Have you always wanted to start a blog, but you weren’t sure what you should blog about? If you are in need of a subject for your blog just look out your front door. Blogging about the place you live in can be pretty cool.
I have blogged about my hood for two years now. Blogging about the place you live allows you to create and shape an online community, learn about your town, and even make some spiffy new online buddies.
I cover restaurant and business reviews, news, things to do, local weirdness, and my experiences. It is pretty easy to find information about your place of residence. Just set up some RSS feeds, talk to your friends and neighbors, read the local paper, and in general be nosey.
After my son was born I realized that my blogging time would be cut so I recruited some of the more active site participants to join me in my local blogging fun. So my one man show turned into a group blog.
My local blog was even covered in the Baltimore Sun.
You can set up a free blog through worpress.com or blogger or just set up a profile in Yelp and start writing.
Local blogs are freakin’ awesome. If you have one please share it in the comments.
I blog about my city and about life in my Cottage, as well as other things that take my fancy. I’ve been delighted to get comments from people who’ve visited my neighbourhood and later found out more about it from my blog.
A New Zealander, cool! Thanks for sharing your site.
