Thanks for posting this; I went on to read all of the captions associated with the book’s photos. It’s such a contentious and yet very intriguing issue. It’s difficult to be an advocate for responsible gun ownership and, simultaneously, someone who loathes irresponsible gun usage. It is somewhat troubling to me that our nation’s Constitution entitles me -a mature, responsible adult with a military background- to own a weapon, while also affording that opportunity to the very same people from whom I seek to protect myself. Truth is, there is no simple answer.
Regardless, based solely upon what I saw, I appreciated that the book highlighted the diversity of gun owners: young/old, white/black, civilian/solider, male/female, etc. Despite what politicians, in cooperation with an ill-informed media would have the masses believe, all gun owners are NOT the same: young, relatively uneducated, white males living in the deep south and flying “rebel” flags from the backs of their extremely oversized pick up trucks.
I digressed a bit, my apologies. Thank you again for this post, it obviously did its job to get me thinking.
I’m glad you dug the pic and link. It is a very interesting pictorial. But aside from the whole gun debate I thought the best part of the photo was the look on the dog’s face.
